Collage of Tuning & Voicing
This is an all day class, consisting of 2 parts:
Tuning Stability Into Your Clients Piano
This class covers many aspects of the tuning stability problem, with an emphasis on stabilizing (or newly restrung) pianos.
Don will include expanded information and demonstrations on tuning technique for stability, understanding pin and string motion during tuning, and discussion of proper string seating, pitch raising and other problem solving when faced with a piano that is not staying in tune as it should.
Voicing To To the Max
Finding the optimum tone for a fine grand piano and for the piano owner / type of use can be a challenge. Getting the best sound from each piano can also be a challenge!
In this class Don explores the full scope of voicing a fine grand piano: Preparation of the piano; regulation for tone; and finally the full gamut of voicing the hammers themselves to produce the type of tone desired for that piano and that location.
If you’ve heard beautiful, well prepared pianos before and wondered what the process is to get that special tone out of the instrument, don’t miss this class!
